General Manager

Marjorie CookeMarjorie Cooke – originally from Durham, North Carolina, Marjorie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Davidson College.  She began her career in banking at First Union Bank in Atlanta and Charlotte.  Moving to West Virginia, she worked in philanthropy and grantmaking at The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation.  She has been a freelance grant writer, Executive Director of Charleston Renaissance, as well as the Development Director for the YMCA of Charleston.  Her non-profit management experience, her love of music, and her two children studying music made her a natural fit for this opportunity with the Youth Symphony.

Marjorie is a harpist, having studied privately for eleven years.  She has memories of playing as a guest musician with the Youth Symphony in Durham, NC as a young person.  She has performed locally on occasion, several times at her church, Kanawha United Presbyterian  Church.
