who we are

The West Virginia Youth Symphony provides a fun and social environment for young musicians at all levels to grow. Weekly instruction is from our staff of professional musicians, many of them members of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Each season's schedule includes local and travel concerts, chamber music, and masterclasses. Special events include collaboration with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and other local youth arts organizations. Highlights of past years have included European Tours and performing for the gubernatorial inauguration.

Our story

ensembles

The West Virginia Youth Symphony serves student musicians of all levels with three tiers of ensembles. String players with as little one year of experience may audition to join Cadet Strings. Intermediate level string players make up our dynamic Youth Strings. Youth Winds is the entry level for woodwinds, brass and percussion players. Our senior ensemble is the Youth Orchestra, combining the most advanced students of all instruments.

Our personal touch extends far beyond tuition, often to help with instruments, extra instruction and access to summer music programs. We do a lot with very little.
